Through on going research and design, Zenzian Drums has developed a signature range of wooden drum hoops. The hoops are built in a segmented design allowing maximum strength and stability. The segments are joined together with a fingerjoint and are then bonded together with an engineering grade slow drying epoxy resin.
After leaving the drum hoops for a specific amount of time they are then turned down on a precision metal lathe. The hoops are then finish sanded on the lathe followed by drilling on a custom made jig for the greatest accuracy and repeatability.
The wooden drum hoops are then finished in the same hardwax/oil that is applied to all of our drums. Danish oil or cabinet maker's wax is also a finishing option.
